Day 4. Day in Ananuri-Kazbegi.

Breakfast in the hotel. Today we’re getting a bit closer to the Great Caucasian Mountains. We will drive up to north from Tbilisi via the Old Georgian Military Way to visit a unique place – Stepantsminda mountain village. It is unique for many reasons, and one of them is its location and an astonishing view from Ghergheti cathedral on the top of the mountain over Kazbegi mountain (5033 m.), the third highest mountain peak of the Greater Caucasus. But first we will stop on the way to enjoy the beautiful complex of Ananuri fortress, followed by driving through Gudauri mountain pass with Gudauri ski resort (the most important skiing destination not only for Georgians but also for people from many European countries). And finally when we get to Stepantsminda village, we will enjoy the breathtaking mountainous landscape and views over the Kazbegi mountain. Lunch/dinner options will be provided en route. We want to show travelers a destination on the edge of Europe, which most of the people would probably miss but everyone deserves to see – we will also show that a travel company can support the local community in the country that is being offered as a destination. We dedicate 5% of our revenue as a donation to organizations working for and with the community and the unique nature, as well as using the locals as the most important partners on our travels.
There is an opportunity to visit a dog shelter, hear a presentation from the creator of a local home for sick children and visit rare, hidden natural and cultural gems such as monks who still produce wine by an ancient, UNESCO preserved method. You can, as a group, choose to visit one of the sites mentioned above instead of one of the activities according to the program, or choose it as a supplementary activity.
